"Saturday Night Live" cast member Ego Nwodim celebrated the end of the show's historic 50th season the usual way, by socializing on stage in Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center in New York City. She was there with the host, Scarlett Johansson, the musical guest, Bad Bunny, and fellow cast members. But her heart may have been dreaming of celebrations on the other side of the Atlantic. Nwodim made sure cameras captured her upper torso as she sported a Crystal Palace jersey with the name of her cousin, English soccer star Eberechi Eze, on the back. Hours earlier, Eze had helped Palace win the first major trophy in its 120-year professional history, scoring the only goal in the Eagles' 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final. In a2023 interviewfor the Crystal Palace website, Eze revealed the family relation and said he had given Nwodim one of his jerseys. "That's my cousin," he told a team interviewer who asked why an "SNL" cast member had worn his jersey. "She came down to London and I gave her a shirt. So that's quite sick." The shirt Nwodim wore Saturday matches the club's third shirt from the 2022/23 season. She has worn it at least one other time on the show. Nwodim and Eze share Igbo Nigerian heritage, with Eze having grown up in his team's backyard of South London and Nwodim in Baltimore. The relatives were both a part of history on Saturday. SNL completed a 50-season run that launched when it was still a hippie showcase featuring folk stars and psychedelic comedy. Eze led his team to a win at a historic place, too — Wembley Stadium.

Rory McIlroy evades media at PGA Championship amid golf club controversyNew Foto - Rory McIlroy evades media at PGA Championship amid golf club controversy

Rory McIlroy completed his career Grand Slam last month. The reigningMasters championrecently arrived in Charlotte for the second major of the 2025 season, the PGA Championship. McIlroy ended the tournament in a three-way tie for 47th place, finishing the major at 3-over. Sunday, the final day ofthe tournament, also marked McIlroy's fourth consecutive day of declining to speak with members of the media assembled at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte. Click Here For More Sports Coverage On Foxnews.com Speculation swirled that the Northern Irishman avoided making any public statements to the press in light of the situation with his driver leading up to the tournament. The United States Golf Association (USGA) ruled that McIlroy's driver was non-conforming. The ruling forced McIlroy to make a switch. McIlroy's name was linked to the failed the test and eventually became public knowledge, likely via a leak. USGA policy prevents the organization from disclosing the name of any player who receives a failed test. Scottie Scheffler Wins First Career Pga Championship Read On The Fox News App McIlroy was ultimately just one of multiple competitors who was forced to make an equipment change for the PGA Championship. Xander Schauffele, who won last year's PGA Championship, hinted that Scottie Scheffler also had to make a change. "I think Scott is winning the tournament, and I think he switched to his backup, too,"Schauffele told Golfweek."See, you don't even know, because he's so good. We can deal with it because the (equipment) reps are so good now." Scheffler and McIlroy are endorsed by TaylorMade. As of Sunday evening, the brand had not released a public statement about the golfer's drivers. Schauffele said that testing every competitor's clubs helps "protect the integrity of the field." "I think they should test everyone's driver," he said. "It's not right to just test 50 guys. It just doesn't make sense if you're in it for the spirit (of the game). The whole point is to protect the integrity of the field. If you don't test everyone across the board, I don't think you're protecting the whole field." Amid the controversy, the PGA of America released a statement. "We can confirm that the USGA was invited to do club testing at the PGA Championship, at the PGA of America's request,"the statement readin part. "That testing program is consistent with the same level of support that the USGA provides to the PGA Tour and other championships, as part of their regular programs for driver testing. The standard process is for about a third of the field to be randomly tested under the program. That was the case at Quail Hollow this week. Finding driver heads that have crept over the line of conformance is not an unusual occurrence, especially for clubs that are hit thousands of times over a long period of time." Scheffler went on to win the PGA Championship on Sunday to earn the third major victory of his career. Scottie Scheffler knew the issue would come up eventually, but the newly minted winner of the PGA Championship found himself answering questions on Sunday evening about non-conforming clubs. Scheffler confirmed that his driver had been tested in the past week and he had to make a change, which didn't prevent him from capturing his third major and first Wanamaker Trophy by five strokes at Quail Hollow Club. The World No. 1 player could even joke after the victory that the new driver didn't affect his accuracy on Sunday, when he was hitting to the left. "No. I think that was my fault," he said. PGA Tour players having their drivers tested came to the forefront on Friday, when SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio first reported that Rory McIlroy had been forced to switch to a different driver after his favorite TaylorMade weapon was deemed non-conforming in a test conducted on Tuesday. "So the driver testing is something that regularly happens on Tour," Scheffler said. "My driver did fail me this week. We had a feeling that it was going to be coming because I've used that driver for over a year. I was kind of fortunate for it to last that long, I felt like." The U.S. Golf Association routinely tests driver heads randomly at PGA Tour events and major championships to determine whether their spring-like effect is conforming. Spring-like effect refers to the elasticity of the clubface, which allows it to spring back upon impact with the ball, much like a trampoline. A driver that is conforming one week could be non-conforming the next, due to minute changes in the clubface as a result of the wear and tear of hitting balls. Scheffler noted that "with the amount of practice that I do, I felt like I was fortunate for it to last that long." He credited TaylorMade for having a new driver ready if needed for The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, which he also won on May 4 by tying the PGA Tour's all-time scoring record, and the PGA Championship. He hit 35 of 56 fairways in regulation at Quail Hollow and was fifth for four rounds in strokes gained off the tee. "... we were really prepared," Scheffler said. "So it wasn't that big of a deal." He does take the testing seriously and would like to see changes in the process. "I would argue that if we're going to test the drivers, we need to be even more robust in the way we test them," Scheffler said. "That was a conversation I had with one of the rules officials; if it's something we're going to take seriously, I feel like we're almost going halfway with it right now. "If we're going to test only a third of the field. If we're going to do it right, leave it up to us as players, like the rest of the rules in the game of golf are." He put it in the context of a new rule that "we haven't quite gotten right yet" and could be more strict. "You can test guys every week, if you want," Scheffler said. "I mean, there's no reason why we shouldn't." The PGA of America released a statement Saturday about the on-site testing process, which did not mention any player by name. "We can confirm that the USGA was invited to do club testing at the PGA Championship, at the PGA of America's request," wrote Chief Championships Officer Kerry Haigh. "That testing program is consistent with the same level of support that the USGA provides to the PGA TOUR and other championships, as part of their regular programs for driver testing. The standard process is for about a third of the field to be randomly tested under the program. That was the case at Quail Hollow this week. "Finding driver heads that have crept over the line of conformance is not an unusual occurrence, especially for clubs that are hit thousands of times over a long period of time. The results are kept confidential to protect players, who are unaware the club has fallen out of conformance and (are) not responsible for it falling out of conformance other than hitting the club thousands of times. "Players are simply asked to change heads if necessary, and all do without issue. To publicly identify players whose clubs did not conform can lead to that player being questioned unnecessarily. Neither the USGA nor the PGA of America have any concerns about player intent." --Field Level Media

Panthers newcomer Brad Marchand very much at home beating Maple LeafsNew Foto - Panthers newcomer Brad Marchand very much at home beating Maple Leafs

TORONTO (AP) — Florida Panthers newcomer Brad Marchand felt very much at home beating up an old foe in the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night. Marchand scored into an empty net and set up his linemates for two other goals in theFlorida Panthers' 6-1 victoryin Game 7 over the team the 37-year-old left wing grew up cheering for. He became the first player in NHL history to win five Game 7s against one franchise after winning the four previous times with the Boston Bruins. Yes, the menace Toronto fanatics love to hate, got the last laugh — again. "I grew up a Leafs fan, and I enjoy playing against the Leafs," Marchand said. "I enjoy interacting with fans. It's fun. I don't take myself too seriously. I love getting made fun of and I love making fun of people. If you can't take it, then so be it. I'm going to enjoy the moments that I have. "When I come in here and I get booed, I'm good. I'm going to show it. I'm going to enjoy that." In a series in which the top two lines on each team cancelled out each other, the Panthers thrived with the depth of Marchand's third line and the fourth line. Marchand's linemates, Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen, each scored. Fourth-liner Jonah Gadjovich also connected. Marchand was a trade-deadline acquisition. But because he was injured and not playing, it was difficult for the agitator to become acquainted with his new surroundings. But once he started playing, learning the Panthers' five-player forecheck, the Stanley Cup winner with the 2010-11 Bruins fit right in. Panthers coach Paul Maurice was thankful that assistant general manager Gregory Campbell had urged Florida to trade for Marchand. The two were longtime Bruins teammates. "He is an incredibly positive spirit," Maurice said. "Guys who are vocal and intense sometimes will be screaming on the bench. They get so wired. He never does that." Maurice added there is a Marchand effect with youngsters Lundell and Luostarinen. "He's affected those guys in such a positive way of thinking about the game, and making plays in small areas and making them feel those two young guys have it in them," Maurice said. The veteran coach also kept his perfect Game 7 record intact. He's 6-0 in Game 7s. "Game 7s are for the players," Maurice said. "It doesn't matter how your hands feel. It doesn't matter how your body feels. It doesn't matter how well you execute. If it's how comfortable you are in hard situations, then you have a chance." ___ AP NHL playoffs:https://apnews.com/hub/stanley-cupandhttps://apnews.com/hub/nhl
